What we are asked to do

Strategic planning

Turning a leadership team's half-agreed intentions into a written strategy with priorities in order, trade-offs named, and an owner against each one. We facilitate the argument, then draft the document.

Operational efficiency reviews

We follow a process end to end — order to cash, intake to delivery, whatever carries your volume — and map where work queues, repeats or waits on one person. The output is a ranked list of fixes with effort and impact beside each.

Organisational change management

Restructures, system rollouts and new operating models fail in the middle layer. We plan the sequencing, the communication and the handover so the change survives the month after launch.

Market and competitive analysis

A structured read on where you actually sit: segments worth defending, segments worth leaving, how competitors price and position, and what that means for your next twelve months.

Financial and growth advisory

Unit economics, margin by line, cash behaviour under growth, and the case for or against the expansion on the table. We build the model with your finance lead rather than beside them.

Diagnosis before recommendation

Most engagements arrive with a conclusion already attached: the structure is wrong, the sales team is underperforming, the new system was a mistake. Sometimes that is right. Often it is the visible end of something upstream, and acting on the symptom costs a year.

So we start by reading the business rather than the brief. That means time with the numbers as they are actually kept, interviews across the layer that does the work rather than only the layer that reports on it, and a walk through the processes that carry your revenue. We write down what we find, including the parts that contradict the brief, and we show you that before anyone proposes anything.

Only then do we recommend. A recommendation from us names the decision, the cost of it, the sequence it has to happen in and the first thing your team does on Monday. If the honest answer is that the problem is smaller than feared, or that it is not a consulting problem at all, that is what the report says — we would rather lose the second phase than sell it.

Scope, duration and fees are set after an initial conversation — every engagement is quoted against the specific question, not from a rate card.

How an engagement runs

  1. Initial conversation

You describe the situation and what is forcing the timing. We say plainly whether this is work we should take, and what we would need access to.

  2. Scope and proposal

A short written proposal: the question we are answering, what we will look at, who we need time with, what you receive and when.

  3. Fieldwork

Interviews, data, and time inside the process. We work in your building where that is possible, and we flag anything material as we find it rather than saving it for the end.

  4. Findings and recommendation

Findings presented to the leadership team, challenged in the room, then issued as a written recommendation with a sequenced plan.

  5. Implementation support

Optional and openly scoped. We stay as long as the change needs an outside hand, and we build the handover from the first week rather than the last.

Who we work with, and what you end up holding

Our clients are owners, managing directors and executive teams in established businesses — the size where decisions are no longer made by one person in a room, but the structure to make them properly has not quite caught up. Manufacturing and distribution, professional services, multi-site operators, founder-led firms moving into a second generation of management.

What they have in common is a question that an internal team cannot settle on its own, usually because everyone in the room has a stake in the answer. An outside view is not smarter than yours. It is simply not reporting to anyone in the meeting.

What is delivered

We are deliberately a small firm. The people you meet in the first conversation are the people who do the work, and we take on the number of engagements we can staff that way.

Request a consultation

Tell us briefly what the situation is. The first conversation is a conversation, not a pitch.

  • A consultant reads it — not a sales desk.
  • We reply to arrange a call at a time that suits you.
  • If the work is not right for us, we will say so and tell you what we would look for instead.
